WELCOME TO THE NEW VIRTUAL PEDAL FOR HOPE TOUR 2020 !

In order to ensure the safety of everyone the Pedal for Hope team will not be visiting schools this spring. That being said, we know how important it is for our special friends, who have survived or are currently living with cancer to feel supported. We also know there are many students who use our fund raising campaign to honour the loved ones and friends they have lost to cancer, as well as support the loved ones and friends currently living with cancer.

With that in mind, we are super excited to announce that our Pedal for Hope 2020 campaign will still be moving forward as an online virtual tour. This will allow students and community members to raise funds, shave their heads, cut their pony tails, and support everyone who has or is effected by cancer.

The team is working hard to ensure that the virtual tour is informative, interactive, and most of all showcases the superstars who are going to participate in the campaign. We will post messages, videos and challenges to the participants and the best thing is….the participants can send in photos, videos, and messages for us to post as well.

So Pedal for Hope Nation…….keep checking back often and visit our Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube Channel for a super new and exciting virtual tour coming soon. All the links can be found in the top right corner of the website.

Who We Are and How We Began

In 2005, the Peterborough Chapter of Cops for Cancer took on a new identity. The Pedal For Hope Cycling Team was born and local children fighting cancer had a new support team behind them! Local police personnel, a retired N.H.L. hockey player and a great crew of support personnel have been dedicating time to this worthy cause.

Each spring members of the Peterborough Police Service, the Ontario Provincial Police, the Durham Regional Police Service, Metrolinx and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police shed their uniforms, hop on bikes and pedal throughout Central Ontario visiting schools and raising money and awareness for pediatric cancer research.

Starting in late April for 3 weeks, the Pedal For Hope team cycles throughout Central Ontario visiting local schools delivering a message about kids living with cancer.

A presentation in each school takes on a serious side about how important it is to support pediatric cancer research. We show a team video, shave a few heads, cut a few ponytails and then turn on the fun. Students are involved in ice cream eating contests against their favourite police officer, showing the lighter side of police officers in their community.

Please take a few minutes to view our website.

We are proud of what we give back to our community, but can’t do it without the support of our ‘Pedal For Hope Friends’ and their families, our police services, our schools and our sponsors. Please patronize our sponsors when you can, it’s the best way that we can say Thank You for their support.

We hope to see you along our journey, it’s always nice to hear your friendly honk along our way!

Since 2005 the Pedal for Hope team has been featured in dozens of newspapers and magazines, received numerous awards, and been a guest in the House of Commons where they were invited to meet the Prime Minister of Canada. In 2015 they even held a massive head-shaving event that broke a Guinness World Record for the most simultaneous head shaves!
